I bough a archteryx venta lt. I planned on it being my jacket for really cold weather such as Skiing or ......?

visiting Boston. I like the brand archteryx but wont spend over 300 on one of there jackets. Is it warm enough for skiing and cold nights or should I return it and by a Spyder jacket instead.
